Corrugated Packaging Design

Smithpack have been offering an in-house Corrugated packaging design service for more than 30 years.

Usually working from product samples provided by the client, Smithpack designers propose the most appropriate structural pack design and specification to best protect that product and meet the client's brief with considerations of cost, material efficiency and environmental aspects.

Our team have expertise in the now common objective of making the entire pack (including all fittings) of Corrugated or other paper-based material eliminating foam and plastics for the environmental benefits and end-consumer convenience when recycling.

Smithpack Designers use packaging industry specific Computer Aided Design software integrated with a computerised cutting table to create designs and samples for pre-production approvals by the customer.

Our team are Structural Designers so don't create nor adapt artwork. They must consider the client's choice of artwork when designing the stucture of the pack and that artwork's implications upon board grades and manufacturing processes. Smithpack's core focus is upon Transit Packaging where boxes are primarily for protection and typically either plain or printed 1 or 2 colour for example with logos and text rather than full colour which uses different printing processes and so would sub-contract that printing.
