The world production of corrugated packaging in 2008 is estimated at around 180 Billion Square Metres. Europe represents about 24% of that at 44 Billion square meters and the UK about 2.3% of the world total at a little over 4 Billion square meteres (sources: Fefco & ICCA published statistics 2007 & growth forecasts).
Smithpack estimates it supplies around 20 million sq meters of corrugated each year implying it is involved in around 0.5% of the UK market by square meter volume. However Smithpack specilise in niche service led markets rather than the mass produced food market where most of the huge volume production goes, it's share of value added within hte industry is much geater.
